Auditions will be held in the Maddy Room of the Huntington Beach Central Library as follows:

 

Auditions for Night of January 15th

  • 1:00 PM on June 29, 2008

  • 7:00 PM on June 30, 2008

    Character Breakdown


    Judge Heath:   M  – 50-60:  Wise, attentive and in control
    District Attorney Flint:  M – 30-50:  Kindly appearance of a respectable father of a family and the shrewd, piercing manner of a pawnbroker.
    Defense Attorney Stevens:   M – 30-50:  Displays the sophisticated grace of a man of the world.   
    Karen Andre:
      F – 25-30:  Beautiful, non-emotional, very proud, tense vitality and strength.
    Dr. Kirkland:  M -  40+:  Kindly, professional and indifferent.
    John Hutchins:  M  - 60+:  Timid, neat, shy cringing, very nervous
    Homer Van Fleet:  M  -  35+:   A Private Investigator.  Very “correct” in every way.  He appears smart, but not flashy; his manner is correct – cool, exact, strictly businesslike.  He is diffident and dignified at the same time.
    Elmer Sweeney:
      M  -  50+:  Police Inspector, somewhat naïve.
    Magda Svenson:  F -  50+:  Swedish accent.  Suspicious eyes, and an air of offended righteousness.   Plain, old-fashioned, but meticulously neat.
    Nancy Lee Faulkner:   F - 20+:   Grieving widow.   Beautiful, delicate, classy wealthy and educated.  
    John Graham Whitfield:  M  - 50+:   Perfectly groomed and a thorough gentleman.  President of the Whitfield National Bank.
    James Chandler:
       M  - 50+:  Very precise.  A handwriting expert.
    Siegurd Jungquist:   M  -  30+:   Swedish accent.  Timid, quiet and reserved.   He was secretary to the deceased.
    “Guts” Regan:    M  -  30+:   Gangster type who sells “protection” .   He’s in love with Karen.     
    Court Attendants:
        Various adult cameo rolls, M & F    

 

Auditions for Dracula La!

  • 1:00 PM on August 24, 2008

  • 7:00 PM on August 25, 2008

Please note that call backs may be required.  If they are necessary the location, 
time and place of the call backs will be provided at the audition.

 



General Audition Information

 

Audition dates and information are subject to change. 
Please consult Back Stage West for audition notices throughout the year.

Unless otherwise noted, auditions are held in the Maddy Room at the Huntington Beach Central Library.
The address is 7111 Talbert Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.

Auditions are Sundays at 1:00pm and Mondays at 7:00pm,
unless otherwise stated above and in Back Stage West.

No appointments are necessary.
Please bring your current headshot and resume’.

Auditions consist of readings from script.
If you are auditioning for a musical, please bring sheet music in your key,
wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to dance.

Rehearsal schedules and sides will be available at the auditions, but not before.

All roles are available; no roles are pre-cast.

The Huntington Beach Playhouse is a non-union, non-equity theater.
There is no pay for the actors and Equity actors will not be cast.
